Artistix Spring Summer Collection has us Squirming for 2017!
If I’ve ever been to an event where I thought Kanye should be in the room, it was Monday night at The ARTISTIX x Andy Hilfiger Fashion Show.
I can hear it in Kanye’s distinct talking voice, “This is Art!”
Greg Polisseni’s collection Equality was exactly that. His actual paint pieces that he creates in his studio have been his inspiration for translating his work into wearable art. The premise behind his Equality S/S 2017 collection was based on his painting. With a brush in each hand, Greg would take paint and throw it with his right hand onto the canvas and then repeat with the opposite hand the exact same stroke. To literally emphasize equality. For me, this inspiration is incredible, from a neuroscience standpoint if you let me geek out for a second. Your body most always has a dominant hand that you naturally gravitate to use. Not only is he creating beautiful pieces of work on canvas, but he is stimulating the body’s brain to exercise both sides physically and creatively which is an awesome neuro strengthener.
With the help and creative talents of another impressive artist himself designer, musician, businessman, husband, and father, Andy Hilfiger was able to work alongside Greg bringing these pieces to life and stimulating our senses to an even deeper level from the canvas to models literally becoming the canvas. Every single piece was a hit. The asymmetry of some of the lines within the collection, combined with the soft feminine hues and texture of fabrics made these women look incredibly sensual, feminine, and total boss. The collaboration of Greg Polisseni and Andy Hilfiger was truly a well-balanced expression of Equality. Within this collection, I was able to see beyond physical clothes. A story was told and within it you saw paintings that came to life and took on another life in a wearable tangible direction. From the detailed expression and creativity of the designs, you saw an artist proving equality in the sense that careers can be made in art. You saw feminine beauty and serene strength for the woman as a whole package. You experienced unique pieces yet defined to carefully tailor to any woman off the runway for an occasion. Equally, for the 6ft models who wore them beautifully and for myself 5’4 who is eager for 2017 to get here so I can enjoy several of these looks.
Thank you Greg & Andy for creating a show that truly was an experience right down to the invitation I received. Even the invitation, which was a custom Greg Polisseni painting on a small canvas, had me chomping at the bit to get to this show. It was everything and more featuring a stunning line of clothing that will be rivaled, envied, and artfully appreciated by everyone this season.
